I'm pretty sure I heard that it will have a 2.5GHz WiMax radio and won't be artificially restricted from joining any compatible WiMax network. Other WiMax providers can use whatever frequency they feel like though, so it's no guarantee that it will work with your particular WiMax provider. I would think it is also possible (theoretically at least) that you could operate a WiMax network in a different part of the 2.5GHz spectrum and thus still be incompatible. I'm sure all this info will be confirmed closer to the release date.
