I think that's the right way to do it, but there's presumably calibration elsewhere (presumably in Xinput), for calibrating pressure. It seems the calibrate touchscreen does pressure as well as position calibration, but only with a single point. (There's no tap gently / hard to calibrate the full scale.) So maybe someone needs to figure out enough about Xinput to make a calibration tool...
