Yes, I didn't cover the specifics of flashing because it's a little different for every platform.

Yes, rebooting from xterm will avoid the race condition that prevents power-on.

Yes, you will be up-to-date and never experience the power issue ever again.

Just be sure to follow the instructions exactly as entered, they're constructed specifically to avoid the power-on issue so reflashing will be easy and guess-work free, but deviation from them can drop you back to square one.
