This is why I have trouble seeing Apple as a revolutionary force, because they keep the prices of their products so high. When it looks like dipping into affordable territory, they update it and push the price back up.

All companies do this with their high end products, but they normally also have a big-selling budget line too. Apple doesn't "do" budget apparently.

It's always the cheap things that really revolutionise stuff, like cheap clone PCs did way more than the Mac to actually get computers in people's homes.

Having said that, it was quite cool the way Apple marketed the Mac Mini as something you could use with your existing PC monitor, keyboard and mouse. It helped spread the word that you don't need to buy a whole new package every time you buy a new computer.
