I was watching some NBC shows online on my laptop and saw a link on their site to NBC Mobile (
http://m.nbc.com
), where they advertised that you could watch full episodes of 30 Rock and The Office.
I visited the site on my N800 and, as advertised, they have several episodes of both shows as streaming video files (.3gp). When you click on a "Watch Now" link, the resulting page just has an media file icon on it, but if you click on that, it opens the stream in Media Player. You can put Media Player into full screen mode and the video quality is quite good. The stream does seem to have to buffer a bit, but that may be a result of my network, not the service. The episodes are broken into smaller parts, so you don't have to start from the beginning of the show each time.
Considering that previous web-based TV sites, like Hulu or the regular NBC online, haven't worked so well on the N8x0, this is a great advance. Hopefully this is just the start and they will add other shows next (Chuck, please!)
It seems to be powered by some company called Starcut (
http://www.starcut.com/
), because m.nbc.com redirects you to nbc.starcut.us
Note: I have my browser set to emulate the user-agent of the iPhone (to use the iPhone Gmail interface). Can anyone confirm that this works with the regular MicroB user-agent?
UPDATE: This site appears to only work if you have the user-agent set to mimic iPhone.
Note2: This site is restricted to US IP addresses.
