You don't have to reboot. You can just go to control panel -> panel

Then just click over to panel icons (where you can choose which statusbar icons you want showing) and then click ok. No need to reclick anything there besides navigating there and clicking ok. After a few seconds it'll return to normal. Then click the applets you want again on the home screen (takes the longest).
