Doing it like KDE is out. All KDE does is mount a file containing an /usr/local with kde files and sets it as a path. Try mounting the entire system and it wont be nice.

What I did to install was reflash and make the symlink from archives to my memory card. I then used DTA on the computer to download the packages (more reliable) and placed them in the archives folder.
I then just did apt-get install osso-software-version-rx34-unlocked and waited for it to install as it needed no dodgy downloading
