Typically USB 2.0 devices draw too much power as mentioned previously, but you never know, you might luck out! As for drivers etc just install the USB Wired Networking package, as described in the Wiki; it will automatically install and load all of the currently available kernel drivers for USB networking, and setup automatic dummy acounts/etc for you... basically, it makes wired networking as easy as it's going to get (to the point that even my dad who doesn't understand how to write emails uses it on a regular basis!).
