Cable box via component and a DVD player via s-video, both were about equal (think the downscaler may have a bit to do with the lower quality of the stuff from the cable box). Yes, I've tried a variety of content (animated actually looks the best). Artifacting tends to be an issue with motion-level transitions (from low-motion to high-motion). I'd say it's about two steps this side of YouTube quality.
