Was it running OS2007 or OS2008?

I would re-flash it with OS2008, you should be able to put it into update mode, With it turned off plug into XP with USB cable, hold down the Home button, and press the power button to turn it on as you normally would, release the home button when the USB icon appears on the screen.
Once in update mode use the windoze update tool from nokia.

If it was already running OS2008 it wont hurt it to reflash it.
