The magnetic "sweet spot" is located on the Left Side of the unit right about where the Home Key sits.
Actually, if you want to find out exactly where nokia put the magnet, just get one of those magnetic pickup sticks and wave it around on the inside of the cover till it 'sticks'.



Which would put the sensor right to the left of the Menu key. (There is no magnet in the side of the case) And it would probably be best to use the same polarity that the case is using.
