I actually have both the TyTN and the TyTN II phones, both on Vodafone. The latter was my contract upgrade, leaving me with the older, slightly buggy TyTN running WM5.0 (a.k.a v1605 on Vodafone UK) to play with.
I plucked up the courage to reflash it with WM6, curing practically all of it's previous niggles. It presently has a Vodafone PAYG chip in it and works just fine on the Vodafone Network, allowing me to do practically anything I want within reason. I even use it for Video Calls on occasion, so I doubt that Orange's TyTN - branded the SPV m3100 - if reflashed will not work on their network.
Ironically, I tried (but NOT hard enough) to connect my TyTN WM6 to my N800 IT, but failed. I was in a hurry and eventually connected with an Orange Nokia 6630 which did work seamlessly. I will try again with my TyTN when I get a chance.
So, don't be afraid of reflashing your TyTN to WM6 - incidentally - and I almost forgot to mention this - the HTC TyTN forum community consider the SPV m3100 the most badly "software crippled" version of all the TyTN's adopted by the UK mobile phone service providers.
Of course, before you do anything, research carefully and backup your data. Hope this helps in some way.
