Hi;
This might be obvious or inapplicable, but I always thought that ps will show the privilege of a process:

Nokia-N810-51-3:~# ps -ef | grep gconf
772 messagebus 3324 SW /usr/lib/gconf2/gconfd-2
1512 root 21596 SW gconf-editor

The above shows that gconf-editor is running as root.
