The current installer that you just used, is actually just a v3 placeholder. In other words, you just downloaded and installed RC3. It was confirmed by quite a few developers.

Firefox 3 will be released at 1PM EST.

EDIT: My RC3 shows "version 3.0" just like your screenshot.
