The discussion was about video playback, so based on that context it made sense to me that your comments were directed at video playback. Perhaps this was not the case.

Offloading 3d rendering is a separate issue, and wont solve any of the video bandwidth issues affecting video playback performance.

You paid for nothing. Was it advertised on the box? Did Nokia ever tell you, "Hey, there's this PowerVR thing in here that we're not using. Muhahaha!" No, no such thing was ever pointed out to you except by the community. The fact that there happens to be a PowerVR on the SoC is strictly incidental. You did not pay for drivers, you did not pay for advertised 3d support.

This is information coming from LinuxTag and it's not an "excuse", it's a fact, they didn't find the drivers to be up-to-snuff for consumer usage. That said, yes, I would still like to have these drivers to hack around with, but facts are facts. Apparently there'll be a more official statement at OSiM later this year.
