Nah, no hard info on the VNC server; I just thought I remembered that. Quite possibly I remembered wrong... As I meant to imply, I'd rather see BIP, but didn't think it was likely as (I thought) available software would work for what's probably the biggest use.
I don't have an S60 phone, so I don't know much at all... I was kinda thinking in terms of PAN, if that's supported on S60. Wifi should definitely work, but is harder on the batteries at both ends.
HID, of course, is already available in the form of xkbd-bthid (or some such alphabet soup), but that only works with Linux as opposed to Windows on account of subprotocols understood; I don't know about phones. (I assume you're aware of that project; I too can see where, given BIP, that would be very nice in Phonelink. Right now it's just a cool thing with little use...)
And sorry if it sounded like I was tearing into you; that was not my intent at all.
Just thinking about all options and posting what I thought. I didn't really take your comments to even imply that it
should
go into gnokii; that was just an open possibility that I quickly (and vocally) rejected to myself.
