Matthew, I don't think you need an invitation anymore -- you can simply sign up at Grand Central. Your request might not be immediately processed, but it's not limited to invite-only anymore. (I just checked the main page, and yes, there's a big "RESERVE a number for me" button. That's what you should use.)
