I have been variously confused and frustrated by this whole business, and am now seeking some clarity and comprehension. I have installed on my Nokia 770 osso-xterm, dropbear, and becomeroot. I can access my xterm from within the 770 using sudo su, which I bellieve is made possible by becomeroot. I have installed on my PC (ubuntu) dropbear, to be able to access my 770 via ssh. (I also, probably unnecessarily, also installed osso xterm on my PC). On first running with dropbear on my pc, I was able to access my 770 and establish a password. However, on subsequent attemps to do so, I have not again been able to access the 770 using that (or any other) password. My experiments have tentatively concluded in my believing that I can work my 770 root with sudo su and no password by bringing it up internally in the 770, but that I should also be able toaccess my 770 root with my PC through dropbear without the need to bring up xterm intrernally first in my 770. But the password is my current stumbling block. In short, and not so convoluted: is working root truly two separate activities -- one from within the 770, and the other externally via ssh (dropbear) from my PC? Any clarification and help you can provide me would me much appreciated. Jim
