Here is yet another example of how poorly Nokia customer service regards their customers. I engaged them asking if they sold a replacement stylus for the $400 N810 I bought. They said they do not sell them and suggested I try ebay. Then I pointed out that I saw a few sites in the Netherlands and one in Germany that sell a genuine Nokia n810 replacement stylus, but they don't ship to the US. Nokia customer service continued to say the same thing --they don't sell them. Then I asked for the name of just one company that can purchase parts from Nokia, because again pointing out that they do in fact sell them. Their next claim was that they can't do that because they don't maintain information on resellers inventories. Huh? That's not what I asked. Reasking the question, they then said there were "too many variables in the the request I was making" to them and to call their customer service number. What? Variables? Then they seemed to go back to their original claim that they simply do not sell this part at all --anywhere.
What a load of crap, because they DO. If you look on this site (
www.tessco.com
), they seem to sell every tiny little component that makes up an n810 as separate parts --including the stylus. Ah, but there's a catch. You have to order $125 worth before they'll take your order.
I must say, Nokia customer support simply doesn't get it. They clearly don't care about their customers or customer loyalty. And that's too bad because as soon as someone comes out with a similar competing product, people may start abandoning Nokia in droves. An if that happens, it serves them right. Right now, I may love my tablet, I absolutely hate Nokia because of their simply lousy customer support.
[Edit: For what it's worth, after trying to escalate the problem as far as I can on the phone with their customer support, they recommended sending a letter to the facility that deals with customer problems and issues (which I expect will be the "round file"). The postal address they gave me is: Nokia, 4630 Woodland Corp. Blvd, Suite 100, Tampa FL 33614]
