I'm not sure what's going on in here (I haven't followed this thread), but here's a suggestion:

1) It would be good if this list was available online for automatic update.
2) It would be good if each station had a tag or tags to briefly describe the type of content.
3) It would be good if this were hosted as a maemo project, with the list available as an XML file on the site (eg. http://maemo.org/channelList/channels.xml)
4) It would be good if the 'list site' had a ratings capability, so that users could rate channels based on reliability, speed, quality, and quality of content

This would likely improve usability tremendously as it wouldn't require people download and install a file. Also with players that use MPlayer as a backend, such as canola, a plugin (python) could be easily written to give the user-friendly players the ability to stream live TV as well as be awesome..
