elbowz - Can I come and work at your trust?! I'm also in IT at a NHS trust, and there's 4 of us in IT with tablets- we would love to get them on the network, but without a Microsoft or Cisco badge we do not stand a chance.
As much as I love my tablet I'm not sure I'd want to dole them out to my users and support them as the vast majority struggle with mainstream stuff. Sounds like a very interesting solution though. we have BBs and they realy are hateful things
As for your main question I pair a Nokia 6120 with my N800 and it works seamlessly without intervention 98% of the time. Occasionaly I get a "can't connect to phone" (or similar). I get the same message whether I have a signal or not, so after checking coverage, I just powercycle the phone. It's normally coverage though.
