I haven't noticed any higher drain on the battery while using my BT iGo (ThinkOutside) Sierra keyboard, compared to when not using a keyboard at all (and BT off). I've used the keyboard for up to an hour, or hour and a half at the time.

However, I didn't explicitly try to measure the battery drain, I just didn't have any indication there's any problem.
