I recently attempted to use by cingular treo 650 as a bluetooth modem for my nokia 770. I was nieve to think it was going to be easy. Soon I was lost is a sea of alphabet soup and error messages!
Has anyone successfully done this?
I have managed to pais the 650 and the 770, and the BT services (when DUN=on) report enabled dial-up modem capability. When I went to the 770 and attempt to connect I get various erroes.
when treo network is set to virtual modem, no error message, but no connection.
when treo network is set to Media Net, error message = "remote server error"
I saw some notes sayng I need a new "icd". Some saying I need to reflash my rom with a generic GSM rom (tried, but flaser didn't work for some resaon).
Part of the problem is, being somewhat ignorant about the 48 different protocols and interfaces for mobility, I do not know if I should be using GPRS, Wireless Dial-up, Virtual Modem or Standard Modem, all of which are options on ny Network Prefs in the 650. I don't know how the DUN affects any of these.
On the 770, I don't know if I am using Packet Data or Data Call, or why Packet Data Dial Up Number is something like *99***1# and why Data Call is a normal number.
I am totally freaken confused! Can anyone help enlighten me?
Thanks
