Hi there,
first I wanna thank all participating in this community and esp. the persons who contribute packages/instructions/help etc.

Then I'd like to hear some opinions on my planed update strategy for my N810:

I've still installed RX-44_2008SE_2.2007.51-3_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM,
I cloned the OS to the 2GB internal flash (mmc, partitioned and formated as listed below) without KDE:

Code:
Device Boot Start End MiB #blocks Id System
/dev/mmcblk0p1 0+ 255 256- 262143+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/mmcblk0p2 256 1919 1664 1703936 83 Linux

I want to upgrade to Diablo - flash the device with the new OS2008 image then clone the OS to the internal 2GB-"mmc" (ext3 formated + swap partition).
Then boot from the "original" (i.e. non-mmc) partition and mount the internal mmc over usb to my desktop linux system.
Download KDE358v2.tar.bz2 and SUPv4.tgz to the desktop and extract them to the internal mmc of the N810

Now some questions:
  • Can it be done this way? I did it with an earlier OS version and an external mini-SD card - so I guess it should also work with the internal 2GB - right?
  • How large is a system with OS2008 and KDE in MB (not the space needed to install it - but the final size when everything is installed and all installation files are deleted) ?
  • What partition scheme would you recommend ? (Are 256 MB swap enough for KDE ?)
And I do know that I can add a mini-SD card with more than 2 GB and use that, but I would prefer the internal 2GB - if possible.
Any other recommendations?

Cheers,
