Would you carry even 3 or 8 devices? Do you reserve 1 pocket (with some sort of divider built in) or 2 pockets? What about the other stuff in the pockets given the non scratch resistant covers and display surfaces of NITs and (most) phones? I need the ultimate answer...
OK, I'd not realized your initial comment was serious.

I always carry the N800 in one pocket, and a cheap phone in another; I don't even have tethering (yet), as I'm mainly on University WiFi with the tablet. That'll be changing as I've just got an apartment, and need to get access there (and between).

So, my current loadout: (Items in bold are every day.)

Image thumbnails courtesy of Google image search and their respective hosting sites.
Human hands (and thumbnails, where present) courtesy of The Internet, where available. (i.e. None of them are mine.)

Left front:
  • In pocket
    • ~$35 (paper)
    • ~$2 (coins)
    • ~$5 more (coins)
    • ~10 keys on keyring
    • Deluo BT GPS

    • iogear gearjuice battery and cable with Nokia tip (same tip for charging N800 and for charging gearjuice).

    • N800 in factory sock
Right front:
  • In pocket
    • 6" scale
    • 4" crescent wrench
    • 6" vise-grip toolbox

    • 2.8" blade lockback
    • Gyration GyroTransport 1GB airmouse
  • Clipped on edge
    • 3.7" blade linerlock
  • Watch pocket
    • Moto PEBL U6

    • USB flash drive + OTG adapter

    • Plantronics 220 headset
Left hip:
  • In pocket
    • $160 (paper)
    • AR in-ears

    • iGo stowaway (w/o device stand)
Right hip:
  • In pocket
    • Wallet
  • On belt
    • Kodak EasyShare Z1275

In conclusion, yeah, I'm more on the 3-to-8 end of things. I'm looking at obtaining some sort of holster/sling/whatever for offloading some of the peripherals, and adding my OTG goodie bag and maybe Eee 701, on occasion, but right now they hang out in my laptop bag, which is almost never farther away than my office/car.
