Many thanks Alephito. When you first suggested I didn't have maemo extras enabled I looked in my application catalogue and it showed a maemo extras repository and a diablo maemo extras repository and neither of them had the disabled box checked. I presumed that the repository referred to as maemo extras was supposed to be the chinook one. Anyway, I deleted them both, went to gronmayer.com/it and downloaded the chinook maemo extras and -lo and behold- quiver appeared in my installable applications list. Thanks a lot to both of you.
