I had two units. Both made in Germany. the first one I had a few days, but because it had a stuck pixel in the middle of the screen I swapped it.

I bought mine from Nokia in may 2006, both were the OS2005 Benelux editions (I live in the Netherlands).

Both have the some of the same 'problems' you mentioned (I don't think of them as real big problems though):
The screen makes noise
When there isn't any sound for a second or two, there is ploping sound at the beginning of a new sound (very very slight, noticeable, but not very disturbing i.m.h.o)
I did not experience the "screen noise over headphone issue"
But if I plug in headphone and change the volume very rapidly, I hear clicking sound

There are a lot of problems with the sound (cracking, clicking) when using applications. I think this is a software issue
I had mine for 4 months now, and I didn't find the screen noise disturbing. Also I don't really mind a little ploppling sound when using application (Are you sure the Estonia 770 doesn't have this problem?)

Also I don't think the sound quality is very good in any case. It is good enough for internet radio or VOIP, but I prefer an Ipod for MP3 playback. (Also a lot less noise over the output )

But the case is perfect no cracks

I think the software is very buggy, but it remains very usefull.
So I still love my Nokia 770
