OK, I can answer one of my questions (and come closer to the topic of this thread at the same time ); Ekiga refuses to see any ALSA devices on the tablet. Gnome-Alsamixer works fine, everything else looks good, but Ekiga stubbornly refuses to see any audio (or video) devices.
