Nokia could instead though, like OQO, provide 3G capability via a sim card minus cellphone capability.

This would force use to use Skype which is very expensive if everyone you call is not to another Skype user.

This would be a horrible move on Nokia's part and would result in continued slow sales for NXXX.

I mean how can you have such a powerful OS like Memeo but leave out the one piece that would result in millions more units sold.

I guess we will have to see what happens.
I thought a week ago the stupidest move they could make was leaving out 3g? Now, because they didn't make that, something else becomes stupider just to take its place?

I'd say the mistake you're supposing they might make isn't really it; the mistake is including the WWAN hardware as an integral part of the tablet, not a separate module. If it was a separate module, people could install whatever card they liked, and you'd have to stop trolling find something other than WWAN to troll about.

But just a couple points here, because even trolls shouldn't starve.
  • It wouldn't force anyone to use Skype.
    • There are other, and better, VoIP options than Skype.
    • It wouldn't even force anyone to use VoIP -- there are other options, like affordable watchphones with lousy data connectivity (which would no longer be an issue with data on the tablet), or ordinary phones. Or not making voice calls on the go -- some people actually don't have cellphones, you know.
  • Skype is not horribly expensive compared to cell rates.
