and yes, that iso probably holds source code. but it would not surprise me that the real meat, the interface, codecs and drivers, are not under GPL and therefor not found on the iso.

remember, QT is dual licensed. archos could just get a license from trolltech, and not having to disclose anything interface related.

So? It's been a very long time since Archos advertized itself as an open source-minded company. In fact, the PMA430 was their first and only OSS-centric device.

Archos doesn't claim it supports the OSS movement, it doesn't champion its cause and it certainly doesn't claim its devices are OSS marvels.

I don't like Archos because these days the company charges its users for the air they breathe in the vicinity of its products, but I certainly don't think they play foul with OSS.

Now Nokia OTOH...
