yes performance mode change will remain until reboot or change.
after reboot it reverts to ondemand setting.
I get a noticeable boost when compiling and generally working on the machine this way: compilation of whole system goes from around a minute in performance to nearer 10 minutes on ondemand. ui apps aren't so different but theres a general kick and responsiveness I had not seen before

Font being too big, its technically too big at normal resolution, as I said as long as its usable put up with the too big font for now, it will be replaced by images automagically soon.

The hard freeze is bad, when it occurs the console tells me its an XV error of some kind and simply will not work until reboot or killall -9 from an already open console.
Its very very rare though - about the same as i've seen it with other apps and certainly not reproducible.
Send me the log I'll try to put something together and speak to some technical folks to see if an underlying reason can be uncovered - otoh though, it could simply be my code which needs fixing. send it me anyway.
