The problem with cars and "forget about it" is that it will still draw power - only a little, but enough you wouldn't want to leave it for a week.
Thanks for this detailed information. I would have thought that the power on the ODB adapter would come from the switched bus in the car. I think I'll experiment with a passthrough connector to have the adapter (as soon as I buy one, that is ;-) ) powered only when the car is running.

By the way, how does the bluetooth pairing work? I hope that the adapter doesn't have a factory default password, you wouldn't want to have some evil hacker reconfigure your harley while cruising on the highway
