I am getting this dmesg as well for local-ip problem, and can almost never connect to a wifi router. I've had a few isolated successes:
[ 648.414245] autoipd uses obsolete (PF_INET,SOCK_PACKET)
My situation:
- Router is a SpeedStream 6520 provided by my ISP (Bell Canada - a huge provider). I have to use it. According to the update link provided, the firmware in the router is up to date. I've tried daisy chaining an older Netgear off it but found the two routers did not play well together for unknown reasons.
- The SpeedStream is set to b/g and there is no way to alter it.
- I've tried setting static IP, gateway, and DNS addresses. It has not worked.
-
I have a Linux laptop (SUSE 10.1 using Broadcom 4319) attaching with wifi to this router very reliably....
....so the bug is in the Nokia, not the router.
- A side issue - it is maddening that the WEP key is starred out when you enter it. I've never seen this on any other device and it makes it very difficult to enter reliably.
Got my Nokia 770 as an evaluation for a possible larger project involving dozens of units. I was interested in the Nokia 770 as we are a Linux programming shop, rather than Windows. This would be a nice little unit graphically, but the wifi problems are a complete show stopper.
