gconftool-2 --recursive-unset "/apps/maemo/maemo-mapper"

I'll try it when I get home. Perhaps this should be included in the documentation, release notes or some place other than just this thread. It could also be the first thing the installer executes when you install v1.2.x.

I know I'm being a wet blanket, but this seems to be the state of most 770 SW right now - it's a pain in the a**! (BTW, I'm working on porting some SW myself right now, and much of the replies in the maemo message boards seem to be "RTFM" when people ask for help. /end rant) In the mean time, thanks for the hard work everyone - it will be a beautiful day when the 770 "just works."
