UPDATE 27-Mar-09:

Doing the update again on a fresh install (no Chinook repositories this time, and I put the RTComm Beta Installer 0.7 in my repo)...

Link-Local worked fine, ICQ did too, MSN was broken. Checked and it had installed libpurple0 2.5.1 (the current Pidgin version). "downgraded" to my hacked version and everything came online just fine.

Woot.

UPDATE 13-Mar-09:

I've changed the repository to add to my repository, rather than Chinook extras, because I have a libpurple0 that works with the new ICQ protocol. I also have the working chinook avahi libraries.

ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS:

I had to reflash my tablet (again!) this weekend, so I had a chance to reinstall the RTComm beta again, too. At this point, ICQ, MSN, and Link-Local have problems working if you just install RTComm Beta. It still requires a bit of extra work to get all of the account types working, but it works for me, and I've had to do it a few times.

I would recommend bookmarking this post on the tablet and using it to install. Cut-and-paste is a lot easier than re-typing stuff from a screen, especially step #10.

These instructions are for an up-to-date Diablo install:
  1. Go into Application Manager
  2. Tools -> Application Catalogue
  3. Add
    Qole's repository:
    Web address: http://qole.org/repository
    Distribution: maemo
    Components: main
  4. Close. Application Manager will update.
  5. Open Catalogues again, this time go into Red Pill mode by pressing New, putting matrix into the Web address, then hitting Cancel. Choose Red Pill.
  6. Install rtcomm-beta-installer-os2008 from your list of installable applications. Leave the Application manager open.
  7. Choose the new menu item, Extras / Rtcom Beta Installer, and let it install.
  8. Go back to 'Blue Pill' mode by repeating the Red Pill instructions but choose Blue Pill this time.
  9. Open a terminal. Get root.
  10. Downgrade your link local libraries and ensure you have my hacked libpurple0 by doing the following:
    Code:
    apt-get install libpurple0=2.5.0.qole
    .
    .
  11. Answer yes to all the questions. Wait for it to install.
These instructions will give you the full list of account types (including the very cool 'link local'), and they all work well on my tablet.
