So if cashflow is a concern (spending now only to want the newer/better model), do you want to risk passing on the n810 only to pay 2x the amount for the next-gen model? Sure I'd like to see them part with it at $200 subsidized by the carrier but not everyone will take that route. The n810 is cheaper now than the new model will be for a long time, and it should only come down in price when the next device becomes available.
I don't know any firm dates and those who know can't say I'm sure. But I doubt we'll have to wait beyond 6 months from now. The timelines and lifespan of past devices dictate Nokia "needs" to release something by Q1 2009. As much as I love my tablet I imagine more have left our camp and joined the iclone generation than the reverse.
I have an n800, will skip the n810 and save my pennies to jump on the next model. How long have you owned your n800? What's a couple of more months of "suffering" worth?
It's personal and subjective to each individual- many are in the same boat as you. Heck, search your house for a few things you no longer use/need and sell them on fleaBay and put together the $ to buy a used n810- recycle your unused assets.
Just my take, fwiw
