so it seems that Bluetooth DUN hasn't disappeared completely from WM devices.

WOW, thanks! after reading the first article i realized why bt pan is a lot better than dun. so i'll be using BT PAN from now on. even though connecting takes a few more steps i get more pros out of it.

As another solution to the first post, you can also install the application called maemo pan. it took a bit of fiddling around with the connections but with some research/trial&error i got it to work.
