Although there is a great deal of advice out there for becoming root, I am still having no luck with it. I'm sure someone can set me straight quickly, so rather than waste more hours on searching and reading instructions, I'm asking for help.

The various wikis/posts/web pages refer to such things as "dropbear" and "becomeroot." Although some posts now suggest that dropbear does not work any more. But for the life of me I cannot locate either of these programs, and without them I can't follow any of the various guides on the subject. I have gone to "gronmayer" and added every single respository for OS2008, and even some for OS2007, and neither application shows up as installable. WHAT METHODS CURRENTLY WORK, AND WHERE CAN I GET THE NEEDED APPLICATIONS? I would prefer to avoid "developer mode" but if it's the only thing that works, so be it.

Running v 2.2007-50.2, no Diablo for me just yet. Thanks in advance.
