I just started playing around with RoadMap GPS again after several months. After looking at it closer it seems to have everything I want in a GPS solution. The biggest advantage are the vector maps and potentially routing... However, I seem to be missing the boat on how routing is supposed to work.

From the menus it appears that there is a way to download routes through google just like Maemo Mapper. However, I have been unable to figure out how it is supposed to work. I select a start and end point for a route and then click on the download route button but nothing appears to happen. Has anyone been able to get routing to work with Roadmap and if so, can you explain how?

Also, is there a way to get rid of the annoying status screen that pops up when the map is being rendered? This is most apparent when one starts to zoom out considerably. The pop-up window comes up every half-second and then goes away. This gets really annoying since it repeats this until I zoom back in sufficiently that it no longer re-renders everything.
