Hello,
I've had the Nokia770 for 5-6 months now and have successfully upgraded it to 1.2006.26-8 with this same windows XP box about 4 months ago.
Today I tried to use the Update Wizard again to try the new binary 2006.39-14. Now the wizard cannot find the 770. I get the "Device not found. Searching..." and then "Device not found. If you cannot see the USB logo..." Basically the wizard will not connect to the 770.
I searched this site and read through all the tips etc.. but am still unsuccessful at connecting. This is what I have tried:
* Battery fully charged (check)
* Battery charger disconnected (check)
* USB cable plugged directly into back of computer (check)
* Home pressed during power-up, USB logo in upper right corner (check)
* RSMMC is removed (check)
* Normal USB communications still work and can transfer files to and from the 770 RSMMC (check)
* MS .NET 2.0 framework installed (check)
* Security Update for MS .NET (KB922770) installed
* Security Update for MS .NET (KB917283) installed
* Tried repair of Nokia connectivity cable driver (no help)
* Removed and reinstalled Nokia Update Wizard (no help)
* Tried both USB ports (no help)
My machine is an AMD K6-300 running Windows XP SP-2 (hey it is still faster than the 770!) Windows auto update is on and the machine runs very well. All of my USB devices work just fine. As I do not have a Linux box, I am at a loss as to what to try next.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what else to look for?
