I recently purchase the N810 and I have exactly the same problem with the wifi connection in open hotspots. Exactly the same messages in the screen and exactly the same frustration.
The only place where I can connect with wifi is in my home where I have a linksys router attached to an adsl modem.
I'm not a technician in computing, and I'm new in the Maemo world. I'm not able to modified internal instructions.
I follow this forum , but at the end the things goes to the super-technician instruction and I lost in this.
Please tell me if anybody find a practical solution for the problem?????
