Looks like I found this thread too late to suggest the original poster simply use the built-in Windows-Mobile emulation mode that Nokia thoughtfully provided.

To activate Windows-Mobile Emulation Mode in your Nokia N700, N800, or N810 device, simply open the back cover and remove the battery... as if by magic, the device becomes instantaneously as useful and reliable as any other Windows-Mobile device...
