But consider this: the webcam is designed to capture the face of a conversant, not a target opposite the conversant. So the ostensible video maker would have to point the device away from himself, thus being unable to see the screen.
You assume that the camera can't be rotated 180 degrees to get the desired capture effect.

Being an open platform, I'm sure we can come up with some solutions to make ample use of the camera. The question remains, is this a multi-function camera/webcam, or just a video podcasting or video messaging feature?
