But-- SyncML is simply an XML standard! WTF???

From the wiki page:

SyncML (Synchronization Markup Language) is the former name (currently referred to as: Open Mobile Alliance Data Synchronization and Device Management) for a platform-independent information synchronization standard
Also, Maemo currently supports SyncML for Contacts and calendar at least (just not the other aspects).

Someone at Ovi is blowing smoke. Time to blog again! grrr...
