This was discussed a few times - those devices need more power than the N810 provides. You need to inject power from another source, but a phone is usually a much simpler solution. At least for GPRS/UMTS networks, there are phones such as the Nokia 6120 which are easy to setup as USB modems, and probably don't cost a lot more than a USB modem.
