Thanks, i just verified that my version 0.5.0 install does infact remove the config files but not the cache files... i guess i should remove those too.

Now that its working why dont you check out the /var/lib/dpkg/info directory!

Just Kidding... dont bother Although its very useful for checking out issues like this it takes a long time to load even through openssh.
