Thanks for your bravery! One thing I noticed is that the pins for the battery are very close on the circuit board to the USB port. It may be possible to jumper power from there to supply USB devices like portable keyboards. I think the battery is only 3.7 volts, but that may work just fine with some devices. I performed a similar modification on my iRiver H320 mp3 player to get power for it's USB port for connecting thumb drives and camera card readers.
