Unless my email, bookmarks, updates to my contact list, etc. were kept in sync across both instances, then I can't see much advantage. When I'd "fallback", I'd need to restore a backup anyway. At that point I'm well into the time it takes to reflash and restore.

I do appreciate that. I'm quite thankful for Extras.

And also, a good fresh flash makes everything work better again. Especially if you don't use the backup and restore function. Copy your documents to the SD card, flash the tablet, and then install everything fresh.
I've been carrying my data forward via backup and restore since I first got my N800. Others have had massive problems due to this somehow, but I haven't seen any of that on my tablets.

It's not for documents though. I have few of those, and what I have are on my cards already. I backup and restore to keep my bookmarks, email, contacts, and account settings. I hate setting all my email and IM accounts, and I never want to have to suffer through merging my contacts together again.
