OK, look. I'm no expert. I just love rotation and so had the debs and am willing to help. But you need to proceed with caution, and with the warning that if I've f-ed something up, or if you f something up along the way, I am not responsible. Let's hope that someone more knowledgable than I can come along and confirm that these instructions will work. That said, I think they *should* work. OK, let's go....

Here are instructions for a tablet running Diablo.

First:

* I take no responsibility for what happens to your tablet
* Update to the latest firmware
* Enable Extras Repository.
* Install rootsh via application manager
* Close application manager.
* Open X-Term.
* Connect your device to the power supply.

Now, type in x-term:

Code:
root
and hit enter. Wait for new prompt, and enter the following command:

Code:
apt-get install wget
Once wget installs, enter:

Code:
wget http://anonymous469.googlepages.com/kernel-diablo-flasher_ripped_from_ss.deb http://anonymous469.googlepages.com/xserver-xomap_ripped_from_sse2.deb
Once the two files download, enter :

Code:
apt-get install advanced-backlight
Once that installs, enter:

Code:
dpkg -i kernel-diablo-flasher_ripped_from_ss.deb
This will install the first deb you downloaded with the wget command.

Next, enable extras-devel repository using app manager:

Go to App Manager>Tools>App cat...>New
Cat name:extras devel
Web add: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/
Distribution:
Comp:free non-free
Disabled:[unchecked]

Go back to x-term and enter (for n800)

Code:
apt-get install osso-software-version-rx34-unlocked
or (for the n810)

Code:
apt-get install osso-software-version-rx44-unlocked
Once that installs, enter:

Code:
dpkg -i xserver-xomap_ripped_from_sse2.deb
This installs the second deb you downloaded. (I used this order of install because it matches that described at sse2.net/rotate.)

Now disable extras-devel using app manager. (This is for your own safety. Do you skip this step!)

Reboot.

I hope this works. Again, I'm no expert, but from what I can tell, this should do it (again, at least until udated ssu). Post here if there are problems. I have no idea why our rotation gurus stopped working on this. Sliderotate used to be the easiest way, but that was never updated for latest ssu (or was it?).
