Also canola is a heavy program compared to others, and since I like to: navigate with maemo mapper(I have a Holux M1000 gps receiver connected through BT), listen to music(N800 connected to the car's input audio jack), be on IRC with Xchat, and browse the internet(yes I shouldnt be doing this while driving, but I have a mount setup on my windshield right next to my steering wheel, and I don't have to take my hands off the wheel) all at the same time, I end up using the regular OS2008 media player for my music/podcasts. it is much more lightweight than canola. I have the N800 tethered to my 3g phone for internet.
From what I've heard N810 gps receiver sucks! so just be warned. My holux connects in seconds. From others' posts I've gathered that the N810 takes several minutes to connect to the satellites, when it does connect.

For video, the other apps like: mplayer and mytube, give perfect quality, no gripes whatsoever. I use DVDFab 4.0 to encode my videos, although I'm sure there might be better programs out there. I encode my dvds with ease.

hope this helps
About the Canola and Youtube - open /home/user/.atabake/config and edit the last row which says something like
Code:
vo = xv
to
Code:
vo = omapfb
This should get it running as fast as in mYTube, but be prepared for some artifacts when mplayer is is embedded in the Canola window. In fullscreen its okay.

Alternatively you can use the xv:ck-method=auto mentioned in this thread:
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...d.php?p=261102
But I'm not sure if that isn't automatically used already.

P.S. Its better, but Canola is still lagging behind.
